ChatCut keeps transcription, captions and standard local exports, including 4K, free. Pictory offers a 14-day trial with 720p exports; ongoing transcription and captions, plus 1080p exports, start with Starter at $29 monthly or $25 per month billed annually. ChatCut's built-in agent uses credits, and AI video and image generation require Pro plus credits.

Does Pictory also work with external AI assistants?

Yes: Pictory has an official MCP server for storyboard creation and rendering, plus a Pictory GPT for making videos in ChatGPT. ChatCut Desktop connects Claude Code, Codex and other MCP agents to an editable local timeline, with reasoning billed through your existing AI subscription; media generation is charged separately.

Yes. The ChatCut plugin runs in Claude Code and the Codex app, and ChatCut Desktop connects Claude Code, Codex and other agents through a local MCP server. Your agent edits the real timeline, which you can keep adjusting by hand.

How the plugin works

Can I finish a ChatCut edit in another editor?

Yes. ChatCut exports XML timelines for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and ChatCut Desktop also exports editable CapCut drafts. It does not export Final Cut Pro XML (FCPXML).
