Is ChatCut a Vyra alternative?

Yes. Both offer conversational timeline editing and connect to Claude Code and Codex. ChatCut adds video generation and XML timeline exports for Premiere or DaVinci; Vyra is a better fit if an iPhone app is essential.

Can Vyra generate new footage like ChatCut?

Vyra documents image, voiceover, sound effect and music generation, but says it does not generate video footage. ChatCut can generate new video shots from text or images and place them alongside your recordings.

Is ChatCut free?

Yes. The Free plan includes the editor, uploads, transcription, captions and standard exports. AI generation and the built-in agent use credits, and AI video generation needs a paid plan.

Can I use ChatCut from Claude Code or Codex?

Yes. The ChatCut plugin runs in Claude Code and the Codex app, and ChatCut Desktop connects Claude Code, Codex and other agents through a local MCP server. Your agent edits the real timeline, which you can keep adjusting by hand.

How the plugin works

Can I finish a ChatCut edit in another editor?

Yes. ChatCut exports XML timelines for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and ChatCut Desktop also exports editable CapCut drafts. It does not export Final Cut Pro XML (FCPXML).
