Usage Policy

Usage Policy

This policy explains how ChatCut may and may not be used. It applies to the ChatCut editor, AI agent, generated video, generated images, generated music, narration, motion graphics, templates, exports, and any other product surface that creates, edits, transforms, or publishes media.

Short version

You may use ChatCut to make legitimate creative, educational, commercial, and entertainment content. You may not use ChatCut to harm people, deceive audiences, impersonate real people without permission, violate privacy, infringe rights, evade platform rules, or create illegal or unsafe content.

If the editor shows a warning or rejects a request, change the prompt, replace the media, or contact us if you believe the block was incorrect.

Allowed uses

ChatCut is intended for:

  • Editing your own footage, licensed footage, public-domain footage, or other media you have permission to use
  • Creating ads, social videos, explainers, tutorials, product demos, podcasts, music videos, motion graphics, and educational content
  • Generating synthetic B-roll, visual references, stock-style clips, images, music, narration, captions, and overlays
  • Transforming existing footage when you have the right to do so
  • Creating parody, satire, fiction, commentary, or documentary work when it is not misleading or abusive
  • Using the agent to organize, trim, caption, summarize, and assemble media into a finished edit

Prohibited uses

Do not use ChatCut for:

  • Illegal activity or harm: content that facilitates crime, abuse, exploitation, weapons misuse, evasion of law enforcement, or physical harm.
  • Fraud and deception: scams, phishing, fake endorsements, fake reviews, impersonation, forged evidence, misleading identity claims, or attempts to trick people into taking financial or personal action.
  • Unauthorized likeness or voice use: generating, cloning, altering, or presenting a real person’s face, body, voice, signature, or identity in a way that implies consent, endorsement, participation, or authenticity without permission.
  • Misleading synthetic media: deepfakes, fabricated events, fake news footage, altered public statements, or edited clips that could reasonably mislead viewers about what happened or who said something.
  • Privacy violations: doxxing, exposing private information, non-consensual intimate content, surveillance, stalking, or using private media without proper rights.
  • Child safety violations: sexual, exploitative, abusive, grooming, or otherwise unsafe content involving minors or people who appear to be minors.
  • Hate, harassment, and abuse: threats, targeted harassment, dehumanizing content, hateful conduct, extremist praise or recruitment, or content encouraging discrimination or violence.
  • Graphic violence and self-harm promotion: instructions, encouragement, or glorification of self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, violent attacks, or graphic abuse.
  • Regulated or high-stakes decisions: content that claims to provide definitive medical, legal, financial, employment, housing, education, insurance, or public-safety decisions without appropriate human review and professional context.
  • Civic manipulation: election misinformation, voter suppression, fake candidate statements, misleading political impersonation, or automated persuasion that hides its source.
  • IP and platform abuse: infringing copyrighted work, removing watermarks or rights notices, bypassing technical restrictions, evading another platform’s policies, or bulk-generating spam.

Real people, brands, and rights

Only upload or generate media when you have the rights and permissions needed for your use case. This includes footage, music, logos, product images, celebrity likenesses, employee or customer footage, user-generated content, and third-party templates.

Do not present synthetic or edited media as authentic when a reasonable viewer could be misled. If the content could be mistaken for a real event, real endorsement, real testimonial, or real recording, disclose that it is edited or AI-generated.

Agent and automation rules

The ChatCut agent can make edits, generate assets, browse for context, and assemble work on your behalf. You may not use the agent to:

  • Create or scale prohibited content
  • Circumvent safety filters or rate limits
  • Hide the origin of deceptive media
  • Produce bulk spam, fake engagement, fake ads, or fake testimonials
  • Automate publication of sensitive content without human review
  • Scrape, copy, or reuse third-party media in a way that violates rights or terms

For high-impact, public-facing, or sensitive work, review the final video before publishing. The agent is a creative assistant, not a substitute for editorial judgment.

High-risk and public-facing content

Use extra care with content about news, politics, finance, health, legal issues, public emergencies, science, education, employment, housing, or safety. You should:

  • Review factual claims before publishing
  • Avoid presenting generated scenes as documentary footage
  • Disclose AI-generated or materially altered media when viewers may otherwise be misled
  • Keep a human editor or qualified reviewer in the loop for high-stakes content
  • Avoid targeting vulnerable groups with manipulative or deceptive messaging

Safety filters and credits

ChatCut may block prompts, uploads, generated outputs, exports, or agent actions that appear to violate this policy or a model provider’s safety rules.

If a generation is rejected by a safety filter, times out, or errors out, credits are usually not deducted. Repeated attempts to bypass safety systems, abuse the service, or generate prohibited content may lead to rate limits, feature restrictions, account suspension, or other enforcement.

Enforcement

We may review activity to protect users, rights holders, and the public. If we believe this policy has been violated, we may:

  • Block or remove content
  • Refuse generation or export
  • Limit specific features
  • Suspend or terminate access
  • Preserve or disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect safety

We may update this policy as the product, laws, and AI safety standards change.

Reporting concerns

If you find unsafe content, believe your rights were violated, or think a safety block was incorrect, contact us at team@chatcut.io.
