## Give every interview a clear story

Bring your recorded conversations to ChatCut and ask for the cuts, captions and visuals each episode needs.

### Keep the answer, lose the detours

For interviews full of restarts, ask ChatCut to keep the clearest answers and remove repeated attempts.

### Make each guest quote readable

When an interview becomes a vertical clip, ask ChatCut to add animated captions that keep the guest visible.

### Show what your guest is explaining

When a guest explains a complex idea, ask ChatCut to add editable charts and callouts around that moment.

Read chatcut.io/desktop to install ChatCut, then import my downloaded Riverside interview footage, keep the strongest answers, remove repeated takes and long pauses, and make a captioned 60-second vertical teaser.

### Codex

Illustrate a podcast explanation

Read chatcut.io/desktop to install ChatCut, then turn my downloaded podcast clip into a 90-second explainer with editable charts, speaker name cards and animated captions, keeping each graphic aligned with what the guest says.

## ChatCut vs Riverside FAQ

Is ChatCut a Riverside alternative?

Yes, for editing recorded interviews and turning them into finished videos. Both offer AI agents, captions, clips and generated visuals; ChatCut also brings reusable editing skills and motion graphics into Claude Code and Codex. Riverside is a strong fit when remote guest recording, live streaming and podcast hosting are central to your workflow.

Can I keep recording my podcast in Riverside?

Yes. Download your recorded video and audio files from Riverside, then import them into ChatCut for editing, captions and graphics. This uses your media files rather than transferring the Riverside editor project.

Is ChatCut free?

Yes. The Free plan includes the editor, uploads, transcription, captions and standard exports. AI generation and the built-in agent use credits, and AI video generation needs a paid plan.

Can I use ChatCut from Claude Code or Codex?

Yes. The ChatCut plugin runs in Claude Code and the Codex app, and ChatCut Desktop connects Claude Code, Codex and other agents through a local MCP server. Your agent edits the real timeline, which you can keep adjusting by hand.

[How the plugin works](https://chatcut.io/docs/chatcut-products)

Can I finish a ChatCut edit in another editor?

Yes. ChatCut exports XML timelines for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and ChatCut Desktop also exports editable CapCut drafts. It does not export Final Cut Pro XML (FCPXML).
